In a video shot last year from space, the’s Iris camera caught a glimpse of the Giza Pyramids, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, and our very own Cape Town.

Waves can be seen breaking and cars can be seen moving from sace.

Urthecast's Theras Wood said, "Our space-based video captures the globe between ±52º north and south — an area of the planet in which about 95% of the human population lives."

"There are places on the planet where even drones and helicopters can’t be flown to capture video of the Earth below."

Urthecast makes its technology available to companies and individuals to gather more information about the planet.

South Africa will have its share of experiencing space this June. After a successful exhibition in Europe, Gateway to Space: The Exhibition will be hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre from 1 June to 31 July 2016. Gateway to Space was assembled by the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, an official NASA Visitor Center.
