CD: Brian McKnight - Just me

His ideas are getting a little too abstract lately, and Just Me, his latest effort, doesn’t sound anything like his smash hit of an album, Back at One.

Thankfully he’s not reverting to that cheesy 1-5-6-4 chord progression like everyone is doing these days, but there’s not many other saving graces here, unfortunately.

The lead-off track, Temptation, sounds like a lost tune from one of Marvin Gaye’s albums – guess only Brian can do a convincing Marvin Gaye?

But do look out for Brian’s jazzy remake of George Michael’s Careless Whisper.
