Rating 4/5

On his debut album King D dips into all the various sub-genres of reggae, Jamaica’s major musical contribution to the world. The Katlehong-born muso whizzes between dancehall, skunk and dub while adding an African flavour. At times he adds a rough and rugged side to match the banging rhythms, but he can also be gentle and sensitive – especially when expressing his appreciation of the female form. King D brings a breath of fresh air to reggae; the standout tracks are Jah Guide Us and Only Luv.
