CD Review: Take 6 - The most wonderful time of the year

Take 6’s third holiday album is loaded with their usual intricate, super-tight “don’t try this at home” vocal harmonies. It’s very Yuletide alright, but not in an elevator or supermarket muzak sort of way. And don’t believe the critics who reckon this isn’t jazz – it most definitely is a full-on vocal jazz album. Cedric Dent’s arrangement of It Came Upon a Midnight Clear is the best I’ve ever heard of this tune. Other tracks to look out for are Sleigh Ride and Jingle Bells.
