A three-year-old child died and his father was injured when their car collided with another vehicle in Randburg on Wednesday, paramedics said.

One of the cars was turning when the other hit it side on at the intersection of Braam Fischer and Robin Hood roads, said ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson.

The toddler had been pulled out of the vehicle when paramedics arrived. He was declared dead on the scene. His father was taken to the Helen Joseph hospital.

The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured, said Jackson.
