Condolences pour in for Eddie Zondi

Gauteng Premier, Mr. David Makhura, has on behalf of the Gauteng Provincial Government, extended condolences to the family of the legendary radio broadcaster, Eddie Makhosonke Zondi.

"Before there was community radio, there was Eddie Zondi. His dedication and commitment to his craft saw him grow from humble beginnings into a household name. On behalf of the people of Gauteng and the provincial government, I extend our condolences to the family. We are truly saddened by the sudden loss of one of the great radio broadcasters of our time," said Premier Makhura.

Fans and Metro FM listeners mourned the death of Eddie Makhosonke Zondi popularly known as Eddie Zondi.

The Metro FM DJ passed away in the early hours of Monday morning from an alleged heart attack at the age of 47.

He is said to have suffered a heart attack at his home in Ruimsig, West of Johannesburg. He was rushed to hospital but declared dead on arrival.

His death was confirmed by the Station Manager, Martin Vilakazi live on air.

Eddie Zondi was the host of the popular Sunday 3pm to 6pm show, The Romantic Repertoire.
