Constable arrested for rape

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has arrested a police constable for allegedly raping two girls in Upington, Northern Cape.

IPID Acting National Spokesperson Robbie Raburabu says it’s alleged that the two victims, aged 13 and 15, were raped on Saturday 2 January at a house in Paballelo.

The officer who is based at Kakamas Police Station appeared in the Upington Magistrate’s Court yesterday and the matter has been remanded to Monday 18 January for a formal bail application.
