Cosatu president Sidumo Dlamini was booed by marchers when he addressed them outside the labour department in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, on Thursday.

Moments later, as the marchers arrived at the steps of the Gauteng legislature, members of the trade union federation chanted "Vavi, Vavi, wenzeni uVavi, we Sidumo kauphendule (What did Vavi do? Sidumo answer us)."

Another group sang "Dubula dubula, dubul' uSidumo (shoot Sidumo)".

The Congress of SA Trade Unions was marching through the city against e-tolling and labour brokers.

The labour department was given seven days to respond to Cosatu's call to ban labour brokers.

Cosatu refused to hand over a copy of the memorandum to transport department officials, calling for transport MEC Ismail Vadi himself. However, he did not arrive to receive the document.

The marchers them proceeded to the provincial legislature, where they waited for its chairman Uhuru Moiloa to receive their memorandum.
