The Economic Freedom Fighters national chairperson, Dali Mpofu says free education is possible.

The Economic Freedom Fighters national chairperson, Dali Mpofu has told the protesting University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) that free education was possible.

He was addressing the students outside the Hillbrow police station on Tuesday afternoon. The student marched to the police station to demand that their fellow comrades be released from the cells.

Two students were arrested earlier today when police fired stun grenades earlier today. One student outside the police station said, “I was also shot, look how swollen my hand is.”

While Mpofu addressed the students, some shouted, “The money is there, they must just release it. Mpofu told them, “We have come to support you. We will not prescribe how you hold your struggle. We don’t want bloodshed, we don’t want another Marikana.”

He told students that he will go to the Wits Vice-Chancellor and tell him that it was time for him to come and address the students. Mpofu also said they were there to get the arrested students released. He said, “Your struggle is legitimate. Free education is possible.”
