The Democratic Alliance’s youth leader, Mbali Ntuli, has resigned from this position.

Party spokesperson Phumzile van Damme says 26 year-old Ntuli has resigned in order to focus on her role as an MPL.

Ntuli’s resignation is one of three high profile resignations within the DA this year.

Lindiwe Mazibuko left her position as parliamentary leader in May and CEO Jonathan Moakes resigned earlier this month.

There had been reported tensions between Ntuli and Zille, including a tongue lashing in February after Ntuli questioned the DA’s planned march to the ANC’s Luthuli House.

Her successes include helping build the DA’s support base in KZN, focusing particularly on the youth in townships like KwaMashu and Ntuzuma.

Ntuli remains a DA member and a member of the KwaZulu-Natal provincial legislature.

“She will undoubtedly tackle her new role of growing the DA in new markets with great tenacity,” says van Damme.
