Date My Family: What we can expect

Now that Big Brother is over, Mzansi Magic plans on keeping us entertained with their brand new show, Date My Family.

Hopeful and single participants on the show first appeared in a short snippet advertising the programme, urging any takers to date their family before they could get to them.

The show is sure to be a hit but here’s what we’re expecting to see once the show takes off.

  • Embarrassing family members – it could be a drunk uncle or a 'tjatjarig' cousin but we think the hopeful daters will see a side to their prospective mate’s family that they never expected
  • Over-possessive parents – this could be the mother, father, grandparent or relative that will put the dater through their paces because they won’t allow just anyone to date their precious child.
  • Awkward questions – the daters will probably be asked how much they make or what their ambitions in life are, if the answer isn’t right then it’s sure to make for some uncomfortable moments for the participants
  • Back trackers – if the daters don’t like their prospective mate’s family then they will probably make a run for it before they get to the prize
  • Laughs and lots of them – overall, the programme is set to trend on Twitter and set Facebook alight with hilarious moments

Date My Family airs its first episode tonight on Mzansi Magic (DSTV channel 161) at 20:00.
