DJ Sbu apologises for Mo Faya punt

DJ has apologised for advertising his energy drink at the Metro FM Awards.

Yesterday, suspended Metro FM radio host DJ Sbu, apologised for shamelessly advertising his energy drink, Mo FAya, at the Metro FM Awards a few weeks ago.

Sowetan reports that the businessman addressed journalists at the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry and acknowledged that he was "out of line" at the ceremony.

"I sincerely apologised about what happened on the night of the Metro FM Awards," he allegedly read from his phone.

"I do acknowledge that no one has the right to abuse the platform of the public broadcaster" he continued.

He further added that the would respect the legal process and the outcome the SABC will take.

The record label executive also went on to mention he found it peculiar that other prominent figures could use the platform to promote their own or other people's brands.

"Many celebrities were asked about who dresses them. And many people mentioned names of fashion designers including American clothing brands," he said.

Sbu has been suspended since the incident occurred at the beginning of March.
