DMX blames wife for money woes

Embattled rapper Dmx has blamed his estranged wife for the foreclosure threats on their New York home, insisting she failed to keep up with mortgage payments following their split and is refusing to downsize to a more affordable property.

The hip-hop star, who has been in and out of jail in recent years, claims he moved out of the Mount Kisco mansion he had been sharing with Tashera Simmons in 2005, amid marriage trouble, and he stopped helping to make payments on the pad in 2008, after his spouse agreed to cover the costs of the mortgage and other related fees, so she could continue to call the place home.

But the rapper has accused Tashera of reneging on their deal out of spite.

He tells, "I told her she is living above her means, that you can't still live on the same block as Martha Stewart and Chevy Chase, you gotta downgrade, but she refuses to do so because the house is in my name. She doesn't give a f**k about my credit (rating)."

Dmx has been battling financial issues for some time - he filed for bankruptcy last summer (13), claiming he has debts of more than $1 million (£625,000), but his case was thrown out of court in November (13).

The Party Up (Up In Here) hitmaker, real name Earl Simmons, wed Tashera in 1999, but they struggled to stay together as the rapper fathered six kids with other women and they officially separated in 2010.

The Simmons have four children of their own together.
