A pair of suspected drug smugglers hid cocaine in a sandwich.

Two men suspected of smuggling cocaine from Colombia to Spain hid the narcotic in a ham and cheese and sandwich.

Police officers in Spain have arrested two men on suspicion of trying to smuggle the Class A drug inside a ham and cheese sandwich.

In addition to the classic fillings, the baguette also contained approximately 100g of cocaine inside nine small individual, cylindrical wraps.

A statement from the police force stated that two suspected traffickers - who are believed to be from Colombia, in South America - were arrested at a bus station in Benidorm, on the south coast of Spain.

They were found carrying "more than a kilo of cocaine powder and pieces, as well as marijuana and tools to handle drugs".
