Not only was the TV series, DRUM presents: Cooking with Siba, sold to an international channel recently, but show host and DRUM food editor Sibahle Mtongana has also won her second award in the food industry, the Versatile High Performer in the Food Arena award at the Galliova Awards.

The Galliova Awards took place on Friday 21 October at Babylonstoren farm near Cape Town.

The event has been running for more than 20 years and is designed to reward food writers and, more recently, health writers, in South Africa for promoting the fun that goes into food preparation and the enjoyment of good food.

Siba was rewarded for her work as food editor of DRUM.

“It feels awesome to have won, I really was not expecting it at all as the food writers’ industry in SA is very competitive and generally the writers are high performers so it’s a tough competition. I always try to work to the best of my abilities and I thank God for the strength and passion that He has given me. It’s always great when people appreciate and notice your efforts. So cheers once more to DRUM,” said Siba.

This is Siba’s second Galliova award, she previously won for the best use of eggs in her food articles in 2008.
