Durban crash claims five lives

The three injured patients were treated on scene before they were transported to hospital for further medical care.

Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident at the intersection of Stanger Street and Somtseu Street in Durban Central in the morning hours of this morning.

Upon their arrival on scene they found a horror site of two vehicles that had collided head-on with debris scattered all over the roadway.

After assessment of all the occupants of the vehicles, it was found that five people had tragically lost their lives during the accident and three people were found to be in a serious condition.

Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
