Director: Robert Zemeckis. A.

In this rather dark retelling of Charles dickens’ classic tale, we meet the devilishly miserable and money-hungry ebenezer scrooge (Carrey) who hates Christmas and, well, life in general. on Christmas eve he’s visited by the ghost of his former business partner who warns him he’ll suffer a terrible fate if he doesn’t change his heartless ways. That night the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future come to scrooge to take him on a journey of his entire life in a way that makes him want to change...

This film is an eyeful to watch – like avatar it was made using performance capture, a technique whereby the actors’ movements control the animated images. it’s colourful and theatrical and the dark theme means it’s not necessarily a joyful Christmas movie, but it’s a treat all the same. bonus: featurettes, deleted scenes.
