Comedy. 2010. 99 min. with Drew barrymore, Justin Long and christina applegate. Director: nanette burstein. 16sL.

Any couple who’ve ever considered starting a long-distance relationship, or are already in one, should see this film. All the questions raised by this kind of relationship will pop into your head – and they’ll be mostly of the “what if?” variety.

The movie is about Erin (Barrymore) and Garrett (Long) who meet and fall in love and spend a fantastic six weeks together in New York. But they’re both aware that she’ll soon have to return to San Francisco. So after the initial honeymoon phase they can’t help but get serious. And then the inevitable question must be answered: “What now?”

It’s a typical romantic comedy with lots of humour and tears, and as always Barrymore is a treat for the eye. It’s not a movie that’s likely to change your life, but it’s fun to accompany these recognisable characters on their eventful journey of love. Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
