Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi can stand tall after his department won a court battle that now enables learners from poorer areas to attend public schools in more affluent areas.

Gauteng's poor residents are likely to get better access to public education following a recent ruling of the Constitutional Court.

This is the view of Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi, after his department won a five-year long battle against the Federation of Governing Bodies of South African Schools (Fedsas), about who has the final say over the admission of learners to public schools.
