Babes Wodumo (real name Bongekile Simelane) has been in the media for all the wrong reasons including not attending her fathers church, Mount Zion Faith Mission Church in Durba

Babes Wodumo (real name Bongekile Simelane) has been in the media lately over rumours that she’s constantly missing services at Mount Zion Faith Mission in Durban, where her father Welcome Simelane is the bishop.

Bishop Simelane encourages other young people within the church to attend regularly. One church goer told The Daily Sun that they hadn't seen Babes in months.

Speaking to DRUM exclusively, Babes admitted that the media will always find a way to put her in the spotlight.

"It's true that I have not been attending church. The last time I went to church was early last month," says Babes.

However, Babes makes it clear that members of the church understand that she is usually booked for a lot of gigs and has to constantly travel to Johannesburg. She further adds that, while she doesn't attend church regularly, she consistently gives her 10 % tithe and offering.

Meanwhile, Babes has also been attacked on social media after admitting that she doesn’t know who Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan is. Following her statement in an interview with DJ Sbu on Vuma FM, she started trending on Twitter as war broke out between her supporters and those who criticised her intelligence.

"I was telling the truth, I don't know Pravin Gordhan,” she admitted. “I mean, does he know who Babes is?"

She added that, in her family, it’s her father who knows about politics. They’ve never interested her.
