Festive season operations: 959 arrests and counting

The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) police have arrested 959 suspects in a festive season operation

from 30 November to 6 December.

The operations included cordon and search, tracing of wanted suspects and high police visibility operations. A large quantity of drugs and alcohol were seized during these operations.

The suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, rape, business robbery, house robbery, hijacking, theft of motor vehicles, assault, kidnapping, fraud, stock theft, shop lifting, possession of unlicensed firearms, and possession of drugs.

KZN Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni congratulated the team and added that the operations will continue throughout the festive season. She said, “The deployment of the members will be maintained in various areas throughout the festive season.”
