Flabba gets a heroes send off

People came out in numbers to bid farewell to the hip hop fallen hero. The Skwatta Kamp slain singer, Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi died in the early hours of Monday after he was allegedly stabbed by his girlfriend, Sindisiwe Manqele. The funeral service took place in Alexandra Stadium – the township where he was born and raised and still lived at during the time of his death.

Most people described Flabba as a straight talker. His former manager and singer, Kabomo Vilakazi remembers Flabba as a very vision orientated person.

“He knew what he wanted to be,” he says. However, his childhood friend, Sbu Mfusi wanted to share lighter moments he had with the rapper.

“He was not a celebrity, he will go to the street topless and he didn’t care,” says Sbu laughingly. He revealed that at times, Flabba would rather stay home with Sindisiwe than going out partying. But there is one last thing that everyone keeps mentioning.

“Flabba would curse, I mean a lot,” But when Sbu reveals that, “He got it from his mother” – the cheers from the mourners filled the stadium.

Fellow Kwatta Kamp members also took to the podium in a heart tearing farewell with Bozza, Initial M and Relo breaking down. Other celebrities who were present included Mzwakhe Mbuli, Zolisa Xaluva, Refilwe Modiselle and Johannesburg Mayor, Parks Tau among others.

Flabba was laid to rest at Heroes Acre in West Park cemetery in Johannesburg.  Flabba’s grave stands next to Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere; Moroka Swallows assistant coach Dennis Lota and former flyweight boxing champion Jacob “Baby Jake” Matlala.
