Former Bafana player in hot water

Former soccer star Lebogang Morula has appeared in court after a foiled heist in Mpumalanga.

Former Bafana Bafana and Jomo Cosmos star, Lebogang Morula, and two other men appeared in court yesterday on several charges after a foiled robbery in Mpumalanga.

Sowetan reports that Morula and his accomplices have been charged with five counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, unlawful possession of an unlicensed of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and the unauthorised possession of a signal-jamming device.

The men attempted to rob a cash-in-transit van that was delivering money to a Standard Bank branch in Ogies, Mpumalanga.

The Hawks had obtained information about the heist and subsequently arrested the men as they were loading money into the suspected stolen vehicle.

This saga comes at a time when Morula is on bail for attempted murder that which allegedly took place in April 2013.

The men have appealed to the court to release them on bail of R3 000 for Morula and R 2 000 for the other two suspects.

The case has been postponed to Monday where the police will respond to their bail application.
