Police have launched a manhunt for about 10 suspects who allegedly shot up a G4S armoured vehicle and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. The incident occurred at around 9 am on Wednesday morning.  Hijackers targeted the road between  between Buffelspruit and Kaarlug near Malalane in Mpumalanga.

Information at police disposal reveals that two G4S security personnel had collected money at a shop at Schoemansdal in Limpopo. While on their way towards Malalane, they were attacked by the heavily armed suspects, whose faces were covered with balaclavas. The suspects were  driving in a silver Mazda CX-7 and blue Ford Ranger.

The suspects opened fire at the guards’ vehicle, blasting its tyres and the driver was forced to halt the vehicle. The guards were then disarmed, forced out of the vehicle and their vehicle was blasted twice. The suspects then took cash and fled the scene. Both getaway vehicles, the Mazda CX-7 which appears to have been robbed at Edenvale, and the Ford Ranger Club cab, were found abandoned in the sugar cane field.

The suspects are believed to have fled with a white BMW X5 and Range Rover after abandoning their getaway vehicles. No one has been arrested with regard to this incident and the guards escaped with no injuries.
