Germany ready to collect the World Cup

When football observers talk about the giants of the game, of course Germany are mentioned.

But Die Mannschaft is desperately wondering if they can finally collect World Cup title number four at Brazil 2014.

Germany does have a couple of things going for them.

First off, Spain proved at South Africa 2010 that a European team can win outside the continent.

Now it's time for a European to do the trick in South America. There is also the magic number 24.

Brazil waited 24 years to add a fourth title in 1994 and Italy also went title-less for 24 years before taking their fourth crown in 2006.

Yes, Germany's last world championship dates back to 1990 - 24 years ago when Brazil 2014 kicks off. Manager Joachim Loew definitely has the talent to win Germany's first major title since the Euro 1996 crown.

The veteran leaders are Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Miroslav Klose.

But there is an emerging group of young stars ready to lead Germany to glory including Thomas Mueller, Mesut Oezil, Mario Goetze, Marco Reus and Jerome Boateng.

Germany are also loaded with players who have big game experience - either at the national team or club level with the likes of the Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich players.
