Going solo

Teargas’s leading man, Bantu “Ntukza” Hanabe, is spreading his wings as a solo artist - but he assures fans it’s not the end for the band.

You know the drill: band gets together, band does well, performs together for a few years - then band breaks up and the members go their separate ways …

Skwatta Kamp, Jozi and Malaika are three of the groups whose musos have headed for splitsville – and now hip-hop outfit Teargas seems to be following the trend.

Soweto-born frontman Bantu “Ntukza” Hanabe is currently working on his second mixtape, due for release this year.

His first mixtape, Prescription, was released last year. Ntukza’s decision to go solo has raised some eyebrows in music circles but the extroverted star is keen to clear up misconceptions.
