It's that time of the year where Durban is in the limelight with the International Film Festival (DIFF).

After much controversy at last year’s festival, with he banning of  the film Of Good Report, one can expect anything from this year’s event.

DIFF which kicks off on July 17 to 27 July and the film Hard To Get will open the festival.

The film  is directed by, Zee Ntuli, a first time feature director and produced by Junaid Ahmed and Helena Spring.

It tells a story of TK, a handsome young womanizer from a small community who falls for a sexy, reckless young thief named Skiets.

Thrust into Joburg’s criminal underworld TK realises that his best bet is to trust her and hang on for dear life.

Ntuli says, “The criminal gauntlet parallels the emotional journey of TK and Skiets, providing a metaphor for how scary falling in love can be. Ultimately it is a hopeful story, one which carries the message that love is worth fighting for.”

However, the festival manager, Peter Machen, said, “I am very excited about Hard To Get. It’s a beautifully made film that works on every level,” he says. Peter says “It will satisfy commercial and art-house audiences alike.”

The film stars the former Isibaya actor, Pallance Dladla and Thishiwe Ziqubu. - by Khosi Biyela
