Two taxi drivers were expected to appear before the Sekgosese Magistrate Court in Limpopo today on human trafficking charges.

The two, aged 27 and 52, were arrested by the Hawks on the N1 after they had driven past Makhado on Thursday 3 December. They were arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle 24 children aged between five and 16 and 10 adults from Zimbabwe into South Africa.

Acting Hawks Spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the suspects were arrested in an intelligence-driven operation after they received a tip-off.
