‘I am an alcoholic’

It’s a label no one wants but alcoholism is on the rise in South Africa.

Women in South Africa are statistically the biggest bingedrinkers in Africa, with nearly half of them

drinking themselves into a stupor at least once a week.

Statistics by the World Health Organisation (WHO) have revealed that a staggering 41,2 % of

South African women go on a binge once a week compared with the continent’s lowest figure of 14, 9 %, which is in Tunisia.
