“I consider myself a legend”

Gospel sensation Thinah Zungu and his wife Zama open their home to us, and talk about singing on street corners and legendary ambitions.

Very few artist would boldly declare themselves to be living legends, especially at the relatively age of 26.

But an artist who fits that bill 100% is Thinah “Blackberry” Zungu (26). We are curious about his nickname so we ask how it came about. “I got the name in the industry because of my skin-tone,” he explains. “It never bothered me; in fact I have learnt to embrace it. We cannot all be yellow-bones, some of us are just black and beautiful,” he adds with a laugh.
