According to Sunday World, the last time a British male solo artist sang a song for a Bond movie was in 1965. Smith follows after Tom Jones who sang “Thundrball”. Smith is said to have co-wrote “Writing’s On The Wall” with Jimmy Napes whom he collaborated with on his debut album, “Lonely Hour”. BBC reported that the star said this was the fastest song he's ever written. "It's the quickest I've ever written a song - it took 20 minutes," Smith said.

He even teased about practicing to be the next Bond girl.
