Ivory Coast edged Ghana to become the ultimate victors in the 2015 AFCON final in Bata, Equatorial Guinea last night.

The 2015 AFCON tournament came to a dramatic end at the Estadio de Bata in host country Equatorial Guinea's largest city, Bata.

The "dream" AFCON final between Ghana and the Ivory Coast was decided by penalties after a 0-0 stalemate after full time as well as extra time.

The Ghanaians created more chances throughout the 120 minutes but the most promising efforts hit the crossbar, saving the Elephants' chances of victory. As the encounter moved to spot kicks, the Black Stars seemed to have the title in the bag with a 2-0 lead but a save by the Ivorian goalkeeper Boubacar Barry and a wide shot kept Cote d'Ivoire's hopes alive. When the West African countries drew 3-3 on penalties, the match moved to a sudden-death decider. In the end it was goalkeeper vs goalkeeper and Barry proved to be Cote d'Ivoire's hero by pushing Razak Braimah's penalty shot away from goal and finally scoring the winning goal.
