Musician jakarumba opens up about his wild past and how the church has made him a new man.

He was arguably kwaito group Trompies’ most entertaining member but then – sadly – fame went to his head.

He started drinking heavily and hit rock bottom.

Today Jaros “Jakarumba” Nkwe (47), known for his pantsula dance moves and his entertaining theatrics on stage, is clawing his way back and he credits the church for saving him and reviving his showbiz career.

Now a proud ZCC (Zion Christian Church) member, we sit down at News Café in Maponya Mall, Soweto, to talk about Jaros’ newfound spiritual journey and successful solo album that is flying off the shelves.
