MiCasa’s leading man is set to share his passion for food with all of Mzansi as of October 22.

A new cooking show, centred on J’Something, is set to change cooking shows as we know them. Titled Something’s Cooking, viewers can expect to share in the muso’s everyday life, seeing what he gets up to when he isn’t in studio or on stage. “When I don’t sing, I cook. Life is a classic recipe of hard work, good friends and a perfect grilled sarmie [sandwich]. Something’s Cooking is who I am, not perfect but passionate,” the heartthrob says. Born Joao da Fonseca, we will learn more about how the singer’s Portuguese and African roots have influenced him and his family as they merged these worlds in running restaurants on the continent.

Nkateko Mabaso of M-Net believes the show’s timing couldn’t be better: “There has been a massive explosion in foodie culture and cooking shows all over the world. Chefs and wannabe chefs have become household names and there are plenty of shows that offer amateur cooks the chance to be in the spotlight. Something’s Cooking turns that on its head, with a household name launching his own cooking show - and Mzansi Magic is thrilled to be part of that.”

The show premieres on Mzansi Magic Channel 161 on the 22 October 2014 at 7pm.
