‘Kani is on the rise’

Atandwa Kani opens up about moving on after a paternity-test shocker, his Ashes to Ashes role and his unconditional love for hisnew wife, Fikile Mthwalo

It would be fair to say that he’s been on a bit of a rough ride lately: he was one of the 16 actors axed from Generations and intimate details of his private life were splashed all over the media.

However, as the saying goes “fortune favours the strong”, and he’s managed to weather the storm.

In fact, Atandwa Kani seems to have turned his life around completely – both personally and professionally.

We speak to the self-proclaimed “prince of theatre” about love, life and everything in between.

We start with his professional life, and learn that Atandwa has joined the second season of e.tv’s popular drama series Ashes to Ashes. His character, he informs us, is called Advocate Buzwe Sihlahla, and Atandwa seems to admire him a lot.

“He is an extremely intelligent, debonair and passionate advocate,” the 30-year-old stage and television star says.
