Lerato Kganyago's health scare

She looked the picture of health on television – but behind the bubbly smile, beautiful The Link presenter Lerato Kganyago was in pain and worried her whole future was in jeopardy.

Lerato had fibroids growing in her womb, a condition that was causing her stomach to swell and her confidence levels to plummet. And besides the physical discomfort, she’d been told by a doctor that removing the growths would leave her unable to have children.

“I looked four months pregnant as the fibroids were each the size of a tennis ball, and I hated my body,” she says.

“Many people asked if I was expecting and I grew to hate my body because I could no longer wear bikinis or tight dresses. On The Link set I asked them to change camera angles, as I didn’t want anyone to see how big my tummy was.”
