The multi-talented Lucia Mthiyane is a great cook. So it was no surprise when she invited DRUM to her cooking class this past weekend.

The singer- actress now turned chef was joined by some of her celebrity friends including the likes of Somizi Mhlongo, the PR duo Linda Moeketsi and Shakes Mokgosi who seem attached at the hip.It was befitting that she hold the class at the Miele kitchen in Bryanston famous for its premium appliances.

The passionate Lucia emphasised loving the food you make to get the best out of it. “You must love your food.” Now we know the secret ingredient to her mouth-watering dishes.

Another trick we learnt from the actress turned chef is to never to poke your meat ,  instead use tongs to turn it.

Lucia’s love for food began when she was a teenager. She taught herself about the technicalities of food preparation such as food texture, flavour and combinations.

Through her cooking class she transfers all the knowledge that she has gathered through the years.

Students prepare meals which are later paired with all sorts of wines from the Cape.

According to her website she is working on producing a TV cooking show and is set to release a recipe book.
