Lupita Nyong'o looked out of this world at the London premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens thanks to a bold blue lip.

The Oscar winning actress hit the red carpet on Wednesday (16Dec15) in a striking Proenza Schoule ensemble, which consisted of a long-sleeved peplum top attached to a beaded and fringed skirt with slits up both sides.

She topped off the eclectic outfit with a slick of bold electric blue lipstick, which popped against her dewy skin. Lupita kept the rest of her make-up simple and wore oversized earrings and a black fascinator in her hair.

The 32-year-old lends her voice to extraterrestrial CGI character Maz Kanata in the highly-anticipated sequel of the sci-fi franchise, but she had stiff competition in the fashion stakes from newcomer Daisy Ridley.

The 23-year-old, who plays lead character Rey in the movie, nailed her look with a black Roland Mouret dress, which featured a stunning diamante embellished bodice, cut out detail and an asymmetric neckline which paid homage to the space age movie she's a key part of.

With her hair up in a high top knot, Daisy was able to show off the unusual style of the back of the dress, which had fabric down one side before splitting off into a thick bandeau band across her back.

Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie also looked beautiful at the London premiere, wearing a two-tone dress which featured a black bodice with feathered detail before dropping into a midnight blue, flowing skirt.

The 37-year-old plays the franchise's first major villain but she looked far from evil on the red carpet with her blonde hair swept back gently from her face and natural make-up. © Cover Media
