A man has been arrested for possession of three kilograms of cocaine at OR Tambo International Airport, the SA Revenue Service (Sars) said on Tuesday.

The man, from Sao Paulo in Brazil, was handed over to the police on Monday after cocaine worth about R1.5 million on the street was found attached to his laptop, said Sars spokeswoman Marika Muller.

Muller said the illegal substance was detected by a Sars drug detector dog called Monty.

She said the man would appear in court soon.
