A man died and six people were injured on Monday when they were flung from a truck which crashed through a fence in Randburg, Johannesburg, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesman Andre Visser said the accident happened around 8am on Malibongwe drive.

"It is believed the truck, allegedly transporting people and goods, veered from Malibongwe drive and crashed through a roadside fence."

Visser said the passengers were catapulted out of the truck into the veld.

One of them was declared dead on the scene, another man was seriously injured and was taken to a nearby hospital, while five others were treated for injuries including scrapes and bruises.
