There is a lot to be said about Nelson Mandela these days. No doubt because he is one of the biggest historical figures in recent decades.

A documentary film ‘A Letter To Nelson Mandela’ debuted at International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, and won an award.

South African filmmaker Khalo Matabane’s film sets out to critically look at Mandela's role in the formation of the country during the 1990s.

Khalo was awarded the special jury award for the documentary.

The film compares the former president’s ideas on reconciliation, freedom, and forgiveness with those of other renowned thinkers around the globe.

Khalo has an extensive filmography that include  'When we were black' (2006), a drama series on the 1976 uprising.
