Maskandi's star shines no more

The passing of Maskandi star, Mtshengeseni "Indidane" Gcwensa was announced on Monday evening and his fans have taken it the hardest.

Daily Sun reports that Indidane's fans have been gathering at the star's homestead to wish his family well ever the since the news of his hospitalisation was announced and now condolences have been pouring in on different media platforms.

The megastar passed away at Dundee Hospital, he was 39 years old.

Indidane's manager and publicist confirmed that he died from TB to the publication.

"He suffered from asthma from early childhood and later developed TB. It's hard to accept that he is gone. He was a fighter," Veloh Bhengu said.

"I ask his fans to keep on supporting his music and embrace his family in these difficult times."

The multi-award winning singer had been in and out of hospital since October last year.

Indidane rose to fame in 2000 as one half of the group, Amagcokama, with maskandi artist Thokozani "Somnandi" Langa but they later became enemies.

In his professional career, Indidane has won 18 awards which he picked the majority of from the South African Traditional Music Achievement Awards.
