We were totally excited to hear that Thandiswa Mazwai is back in studio

– the last time we heard from this talented songbird was at the beginning of the year, when Idris Elba mentioned they’d worked together on his album, Mi Mandela, a tribute to his late father and former president Nelson Mandela.

Now she is working on her own tribute to another legend, Busi Mhlongo.

She posted a picture on social media captioned: “Studio nites. I was recording one of MaMhlongo's songs I burnt imphepho for peace/clarity/blessings. This belt was given to me by MamBusi when I was just starting out my solo career.”

In the picture is the incense she was burning as well as a beaded belt, a cup and earphones placed on a chair.

“She was my industry mom/my mentor/a master. Doing one of her songs is always daunting because I love her and want to make her proud. I miss her terribly in the flesh but she is always with me in spirit. We are all eternally grateful for the music and energy she brought to our lives and time.”

We can’t wait to see what Thandiswa does with the track!
