Mo Flava is on a roll

The energetic TV presenter and radio DJ won’t let rumours that he’s arrogant stop him from achieving his dreams

He has a reputation for being arrogant and having an overinflated ego, so when the popular radio DJ is an hour-and-a-half late for our interview, we start thinking that the rumours are perhaps not just idle gossip.

But when YFM breakfast show host Moeti Tsiki, aka Mo Flava, finally shows up he’s genuinely remorseful and apologises profusely for being late.

He’d come directly from Polokwane in Limpopo where he’d done a gig the night before, he explains. “I don’t think I’m arrogant but many people find me a bit intimidating – I don’t know why,” he says, as if reading our minds.

This straight-talking TV presenter, radio jock and house DJ doesn’t beat about the bush when he says he feels misunderstood.

There’s no question the 28-year-old sensation of the airwaves oozes confidence and perhaps it’s probably this quality that his detractors think of as arrogance.

It seems 2012 is shaping up to be a good year for Mo Flava, even though there was a slight hiccup in April when a YFM listener laid a complaint with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of SA (BCCSA) when he called Generations actress Maggie Benedict ugly several times live on air.
