Mzansi musicians to perform alongside, Beyoncé , Kendrick Lamar and Mariah Carey at the Essence Festival in New Orleans

The festival includes the likes of Beyoncé Knowles, Mc Lyte, Kendrick Lamar, Ciara, Dej Loaf, Kelly Price and Mariah Carey to name a few.

The Essence Music Festival is a 3-day fiesta with a line up of over 30 musicians from all over the world.

South African artists have been included in the list of international artists to perform at the festival in New Orleans.

Legendary Maskandi singer Phuzekhemisi, dance musician Zakes Bantwini and jazz artist Nduduzo Makhathini have been booked for the Global Stage Superlounge.

Johnston Zibakwakhe Mnyandu known as Phuzekhemisi first collaborated with the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir IN THE 1950'S. He then officially launched his musical career as a street musician in and secured his first recording contract in the early '60s.

Zakes Bantwini born Zakhele Madida is a producer, record executive and owner of Mayonie Productions. Zakes started his career as a Kwaito singer in Kwazulu Natal. He then gained fame for his collaboration with DJ Black Coffee in the hit song “Juju.” From humble beginnings, Zakes has made a name for himself on the world stage.

Coming from a very musical family Nduduzo Makhathini was inspired by his mother who was a pianist and his father a guitarist and was he was exposed to a range of music including traditional Zulu music.

The Essence festival will come to Durban in November 2016 and the lineup will be announced.
