Nelson Mandela is suffering the wrath of the ancestors who are angry because of bones of family members that were exhumed from the family grave site.  According to reports by City Press, the elders in the Mandela family visited the family grave site last night in Qunu pleading for forgiveness from their ancestors for excavating the bodies of family members in 2011.

“The elders told the meeting that the Mandelas are being punished through making their beloved son (Nelson Mandela) suffer in hospital where he remains in great pain and anguish. The family is very unsure of what to do,” said a well-placed source to City Press.

The Mandela family is furious with the grandson of Nelson Mandela Mandla Mandela for digging up the remains of his father Makgatho and his father’s two siblings, Makaziwe and Thembekile, and moving them to Mandela’s birthplace Mvezo.

Elders with knowledge of traditions and customs of Abathembu told the family mambers gathered at the meeting yesterday that this excavation had angered the Mandela family and brought a curse on it by the ancestors, the source claimed.

The family elders visited the graveyard yesterday after a tense meeting which included the Mandela senior family members and elders, UDM leader Bantu Holomisa and Public Service and Administration Minister Lindiwe Sisulu in Qunu.

The source also revealed to City Press that after the visit to the grave site it was decided that a delegation would visit Mandela in hospital.

In an interview with Mail and Guardian, Holomisa also refuted claims that the meeting was to discuss the plans to bury Nelson Mandela saying the meeting was to brief the elders on Mandela's condition.
