This year’s race to the Miss South Africa title is promising to be bigger than ever!

Not only has the venue been changed from Sun City to Carnival City, the Miss SA organisers have just revealed a new crown for a new queen, which they have named Enhle – meaning “the beautiful one” in isiZulu.

“The crown is a real show-stopper and worthy of Miss South Africa,” says Miss SA 2004 Claudia Henkel. “While it is eye-catching and beautiful, it is also a practical headpiece.”

Fun facts about the magnificent Enhle:

  • The name was chosen through a social media competition
  • It features three massive sugilite stones, which are also known as stones of love
  • Other stones used include amethyst and white quartz crystals
  • The stones were mined in Northern Cape near Hotazel

According to the crown’s designer Howard Friedman of Jack Friedman Jewellers: “Sugilite is believed to have protective and healing properties. We hope that it will keep Miss SA safe during her reign, as well as help her unite our nation.”
