Two teens drown in North West

Two teenage boys drowned in a quarry in Wolmaransstad, North West police said on Monday.

Four boys went swimming in the quarry near a dumping site on Sunday when two of them got into difficulties, said Sergeant Kealeboga Molale.

The two other boys managed to get out of the water and alerted police.

Andries Masilo and Adam Mpisa were certified dead on the scene.

An inquest docket had been opened. – SAPA

Elderly woman stabs lover to death

An elderly woman has been arrested after she allegedly stabbed a 35-year-old man to death in Itsoseng near Lichtenburg, North West police said on Monday.

"It is alleged that in the early hours of Sunday, a 63-year-old woman stabbed her lover with a knife," said Sergeant Kealeboga Molale.

"It is alleged that the child of the suspect found the deceased lying outside in a pool of blood. When he asked his mother what happened she fled the scene."

She said the elderly woman was arrested later on Sunday and would appear in the Itsoseng Magistrate's Court on Monday. - SAPA   Two dead in Joburg crash Two people were killedand 13 others injured when a minibus taxi collided with a car in Nasrec, south of Johannesburg on Monday, metro police said. Companies should fund political parties: ANC

ANC treasurer general Zweli Mkize wants companies to fund political parties and has suggested the establishment of a trust fund, the Sowetan reports.

"This is about supporting democracy without being partisan," he was quoted as saying.

"[Businesses] must pay millions, but this should not stop them from supporting parties of their choice."

He argued that business had gained through peace and democracy.
