While the Buccaneers were locking horns with Zamalek in their CAF Confederation Cup Group B match at Stade Petro Sport Stadium in Cairo on Sunday night, one of their strikers allegedly got arrested for speeding earlier in the day.

Tendai Ndoro was allegedly caught doing 166KM/H on the N1 South near New Road and Allandale road in his Golf 7 GTI.

The 27-year old striker allegedly told the police that he was rushing to training, which he did not ultimately get to because he was arrested and taken to the Midrand Police Station.

The JMPD could only confirm that there were people arrested on Sunday for speeding and cannot name the perpetrators as they are yet to appear in court.

Senior Superintrendent Wayne Minnaar said that speeding attributes to serious accidents and deaths on the roads and motorists tend to speed on freeways over the weekend. “The JPMD has special operations every weekend to curb speeding on freeways,” he said.

Orlando Pirates ultimately lost 4-1 to Zamalek, but they progressed to the semifinals and they will face Al Ahly.
