Pear Tartin-Tartin

A little treat

Preparation time: 5 min

Cooking time: 45 min

Serves: 6

125 ml (½ cup) caster sugar

45 ml (3 T) water

30 ml (2 T) butter

3 pears, peeled and sliced

flour, for rolling

400 g frozen puff pastry, defrosted

15 ml (1 T) cinnamon (optional)

Preheat oven to 180C°. In a non-stick ovenproof pan, combine sugar and water.

Cook on medium heat without stirring until it starts to caramelise. Add butter and remove from the heat.

Arrange the pears and return pan to the heat to simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.

On a floured surface roll pastry and cut out a round piece using a plate that’s bigger than the pan.

Place the cut pastry on top of the pears in the pan, place a small plate on top of the pastry and set the oven to bake for 15 minutes. Take out the plate and bake for 15 minutes again.

Loosen the pastry around the edges with a knife and carefully turn over a plate. Sprinkle cinnamon.
